Online booking for barbers: what actually matters
By Dhan Phagoo · Updated
Two ways to take bookings online
A booking app. Customers choose a barber and an open slot, and the app manages your calendar, reminders and sometimes deposits. Good for busy shops with several chairs.
A request form. Customers pick a service and a preferred time, and the request lands in your email with a calendar invite you can accept. Good for smaller shops or barbers who prefer to confirm each booking themselves.
Neither is wrong. The point is that someone who finds you at 10 p.m. can ask for a slot without calling.
Keep the service list short
Too many options slow people down. Most shops cover it with five or six:
- Men's haircut
- Haircut and beard
- Beard trim
- Hot towel shave
- Kids cut
Put the price next to each one. People are more likely to book when there's no surprise.
Be honest about time
If a fade takes 45 minutes, don't list it at 30. Running late on every appointment is the fastest way to lose regulars.
Cut no-shows
- Send a reminder the day before.
- Make cancelling easy, so people cancel instead of just not showing up.
- For high-demand slots, a small deposit can help, if your booking app supports it.
Don't forget walk-ins
If you take walk-ins, say so clearly on your website, with your walk-in hours. Many customers want to know before they drive over.
Put the button where people look
The book button should be at the top of your website and visible on a phone without scrolling. Link it from your Instagram bio and your Google Business Profile too.
The bottom line
Pick the simplest setup that fits how your shop runs, list your services with prices, and make the button impossible to miss.
