5 barbershop website mistakes that cost you customers

By Dhan Phagoo · Updated

1. No prices

Customers want to know what a cut costs before they come in. Without prices, many will choose a shop that lists them. Fix it with a short, clear price list.

2. The book button is hard to find

If someone has to scroll or hunt for a way to book or call, you lose them. Put the book button and tap-to-call at the top of the page, visible on a phone without scrolling.

3. Wrong hours

Nothing frustrates a customer more than showing up to a closed shop. Update your hours on your website and Google profile together, including holidays.

4. Stock photos

Generic photos of models with perfect hair don't build trust. Real photos of your cuts, your chairs and your team do. A handful of honest phone photos beats a gallery of stock images.

5. Slow or clumsy on a phone

Most of your visitors are on their phone. If the site takes too long to load, text is tiny or buttons are too close together, they leave. Test your site on your own phone over cellular data.

Bonus: no website at all

The biggest mistake is not having one. Without it, you're relying on people finding you some other way.

The bottom line

Prices visible, button at the top, hours right, real photos and fast on a phone. Get those five right and your site will earn its keep.

Frequently asked questions

What's the most important thing on a barbershop website?
A visible way to book or call, along with your prices, hours and rating.
Are stock photos bad?
They don't build trust the way real photos of your work and shop do.
How do I know if my site is too slow?
Open it on your phone over cellular data. If it takes more than a few seconds to show up, it's too slow.
